Doug McKenzie

Doug has served on the Board of Directors since 2014.

He took advantage of an early retirement program from Hewlett-Packard after almost 20 years as a people, project and program manager in software development and customer support. Before HP, he was a salesperson, newsletter editor, property manager and home remodeling contractor.

He received a degree in Applied Math with an emphasis in Computer Science from UC Berkeley. Since departing HP in 2005, he is now living his dreams as an educator and consultant in the residential and utility-scale solar power industry and as a career coach helping people in career transition.

Doug is the East Bay Development Manager for non-profit residential solar installer SunWork Renewable Energy Projects (SunWork.org), is on the Board of NorCal Solar, teaches solar-basic workshops for local residents (formerly Palo Alto, now El Cerrito), runs a solar consulting business (LightsOnSolar.com) and is a career coach (AspirationalCoaching.com). He's a participant in environmental organizations including the Sierra Club, the Ecology Center's Berkeley Climate Action Coalition and Community Clean Energy Working Group, Citizens Climate Lobby, and the Electric Auto Association.

Doug heads to the Sierras as often as he can, and hikes Bay Area trails in the meantime.
